​PHP is the most popular server side scripting language used on the web. Compatible with Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS X, etc. PHP has a user base in the millions and is the engine behind such popular web CMS systems as WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.  PHP can be used to query databases, send mail, process forms and build templated themes.

Intended Audience

​This one-day Introduction to PHP Is intended for students wanting a basic understanding of the PHP scripting language, designers who will need to understand PHP terms and processes used by developers on their web design team, WordPress users who are planning to customize a theme or functionality used in their web site.

At Completion

​Students will have a basic understanding of what PHP is and how it can be useful in the development of their web projects. Students will be introduced to computer programming terms and processes. Students will also have a better understanding of the online resources available to them and how these resources can be used as they continue building their web development skills.


​Students should be familiar with using personal computers with a mouse and keyboard and possess basic typing skills. Students should be comfortable accessing information on the computer. Students should have a basic understanding of the HTML and CSS languages.
