All of the classes are taught from our Exton facility utilizing High-Definition Instructor Led Training (HD-ILT). What exactly is HD-ILT?

HD-ILT™ is the world’s first distance training system utilizing state-of-the-art, life-size high-definition video & audio combined with patented remote lab access. This unique combination provides students with live training and the same experience as if they were actually in the classroom with the instructor.

Implementing Cisco Voice Communications and QoS (CVOICE) teaches students about voice gateways, characteristics of VoIP call legs, dial plans and their implementation, basic implementation of IP phones in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express environment, and essential information about gatekeepers and Cisco Unified Border Element. The course provides the learners with voice-related quality of service (QoS) mechanisms that are required in Cisco Unified Communications networks.

Intended Audience

This course is intended for:

  • Network Administrators, Network Engineers, and Systems Engineers
  • Anyone who has their CCNA Voice and/or is working towards CCNP Voice Certification

At Completion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain what a voice gateway is, how it works, and describe its usage, components, and features
  • Describe the characteristics and configuration elements of VoIP call legs
  • Describe how to implement IP phones using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express
  • Describe the components of a dial plan, and explain how to implement a dial plan on a Cisco Unified voice gateway
  • Explain what gatekeepers and Cisco Unified Border Elements are, how they work, and what features they support
  • Describe why QoS is needed, what functions it performs, and how it can be implemented in a Cisco Unified Communications network

Prerequisites

To fully benefit from this course, students should have the following prerequisite skills and knowledge: 

  • Working knowledge of fundamental terms and concepts of computer networking, including LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing
  • Ability to configure and operate Cisco IOS routers in an IP environment at the Cisco CCNA©_ Routing and Switching level
  • Basic knowledge of traditional voice, converged voice, and data networks at the Cisco CCNA Voice level
  • Recommended authorized prerequisite Cisco training: ICND 1 & ICND 2 or CCNA Bootcamp, and ICOMM

Exams & Certifications

CVOICE is part of the CCNP Voice Certification.  Cisco Certified Network Professional Voice (CCNP Voice) validates advance knowledge and skills required to integrate into underlying network architectures. Furthermore, this certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network. With a CCNP Voice certification, a network professional can create a collaboration solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. The CCNP Voice focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Unified CallManager), quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches. Additionally, the integration and troubleshooting of Cisco Unified Communications applications are now covered in the CCNP Voice, specifically the Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco Unified Presence applications.
